Moped driver seriously injured in Madison County crash

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Thursday about 6 miles north of Anderson.

MADISON COUNTY, INDIANA, Ind. — A moped driver was seriously injured in a crash in Madison County Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 28 along northbound State Road 9 between County Road 600 North and County Road 700 North, around six miles north of Anderson.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the moped driver, a 27-year-old man from Anderson, was struck from behind by a Toyota sedan driven by a 19-year-old Anderson man.

The moped driver, who police said was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to Community Hospital Anderson with head and internal injuries. 

The sedan driver was not injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
