INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Some big changes are coming to Monument Circle, just in time for the holiday season.

It's part of a $7.6 million dollar from the Lilly Endowment.

It's called the "Shining a Light on Indianapolis Initiative."

Downtown Indy Inc. is going to use that money to install a new stage as well as a state of the art sound system and new lights that'll be used for nightly shows.

"Downtown Indy Inc. and the Indiana War Memorials Commission wanted to foster a deeper sense of civic pride and patriotism by adding state of the art technology and infrastructure to invigorate, activate and motivate our historic place here," said Bob Schultz, Downtown Indy, Inc. Vice President.

Many of those shows will pay tribute to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and teach young Hoosiers about Indiana's history.

You'll be able to see the first one in two months on Nov. 9.
