MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - The chief of the Martinsville Police Department is facing unspecified charges, according to the city's mayor.

Mayor Shannon Kohl released a statement Friday night about the charges against Chief Matt Long, but did not provide any information on the nature of those charges.

"We do not have any more information at this time regarding the charges against Chief Long. We are still taking the situation in. It is a sad day in our community," Kohl said. "Although we don’t have additional information, we intend to fully cooperate and assist with any information needed from the City."

Kohl placed Long on paid administrative leave last month, pending the results of a state board of accounts investigation. She appointed former Chief Roger Wiltermood as interim chief.

The Martinsville Reporter-Times reported last month that state examiners are looking into discrepancies related to Long’s overtime compensation.
