MARTISNVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - The Mayor of Martinsville appointed an interim police chief Monday after placing Chief Matt Long on paid administrative leave.
Former Chief Roger Wiltermood will serve as the City of Martinsville Police Department's interim chief until further notice.
Last week, Mayor Shannon Kohl placed Chief Long on leave pending the results of a state board of accounts investigation.
The Martinsville Reporter-Times reports that state examiners are looking into discrepancies related to Long’s overtime compensation.
Mayor Kohl said in a statement she would expect the department to continue to run smoothly and without distraction.
