Josh Kaufman steps onto the biggest stage in Indianapolis later this month, but you can catch him before that at Festival on Main this Friday.

The Indy Family Foundation's "Festival on Main" runs from 5 p.m. - 11 p.m. Friday on Main Street in Speedway. The free concert starts at 9 p.m. with Kaufman, Jon McLaughlin and the Hunter Smith Trio.

While the concert is free, it costs $15/person or $30/family to enter the Kid or AdultZone areas. All proceeds benefit the Indy Family Foundation, which provides help to families of the racing community in case of injuries or other tragedies.

"To be helping to support a cause like that is always good, and to be doing something locally that's kind of in our community is great, too," Kaufman said on Eyewitness News at Noon Wednesday.

Kaufman also talked about how he feels heading into the Indianapolis 500 where he will sing "Back Home Again in Indiana".

"It's a huge honor. Obviously we know Jim Nabors did amazingly for years and years and years, and it's big shoes to fill and I'm not even going to try to fill them. I'm just going to do it my way," he said. "But I look forward to singing it and to being able to do it with the Indianapolis Children's Choir."

When asked if he will stay with a traditional rendition like Nabors, or if he will put his own spin on it, Kaufman would only say, "I like to try to find that balance. I want to be true to the song, but also be unique."
