Indianapolis got a little dose of Hollywood today. Author John Green brought his Paper Towns, Get Lost Get Found Tour to Indianapolis.

Eyewitness News Reporter Kevin Rader shows us some of the excitement.

It's was Indy's own Red Carpet starring author John Green.

Why are you here I asked two girls standing in line to attend the tour? "Because I love Paper Towns. I read the book and I think John Green is a very good author," twelve year old Janelle Limo exclaimed as she clutched her copy of the book in her hands.

"To see John Green. The amazing John Green," 12 year old Shifa Mazher added.

And he didn't disappoint. He signed autographs, took pictures and touted the movie Paper Towns, to be released July 24th.

"It's a comedy and a drama and a romance and a mystery. It is a lot of different movies in one," John Green said as he talked about his book and the new movie on the Red Carpet.

"I am so excited because this is where John wrote Paper Towns," actress Halston Sage remarked as she walked the Red Carpet.

The popular young adult author who calls Indianapolis home certainly could live anywhere but he has chosen to raise his family in Indianapolis.

"We stayed here because we love Indianapolis. We love the people and you can hear Nat Wolff arriving in the background. We love the people and we love the place. It is the perfect place to raise our kids and a perfect place for our family," Green said.

And considering Mayor Greg Ballard proclaimed the day John Green day in Indianapolis, it would seem the feeling is mutual but there is something else.

"Try to pay attention and listen to one another. I think that is the great challenge in our age where everyone feels they have a voice but no one feels listened to. I think the challenge for everyone is to do a better job of listening," Green continued.

The interview gave me an opportunity to ask if he had any advice for potential young authors out there who might want to follow in his footsteps.

"To young writers out there I would say read a lot. Read critically. Read broadly. Read all different kinds of stories and keep writing. Writing and reading are the only apprentices that we have," he advised.

All in all it was Hollywood Hoosier style. Kevin Rader Channel Thirteen Eyewitness News.
