Zionsville truck driver seriously injured by flying tire on I-69

A Zionsville truck driver was seriously injured when a loose tire struck him while he was driving on Interstate 69.

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - A Zionsville truck driver was seriously injured when a loose tire struck him while he was driving on Interstate 69.

State police say 58-year-old John Green was driving north on the interstate when a spare tire came across the median and crashed through the windshield of his cab. Green was struck and the tire ended up on the passenger side of his cab.

The incident happened around 2:40 p.m. Saturday, police said. They describe the spare tire as one "commonly used by enclosed trailers."

Green was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne via ambulance.
