TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHR) - The son of a slain Terre Haute police officer received a special honor Tuesday.
Officer Rob Pitts leaves behind three children, including his five-year-old son Dakota. Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse presented Dakota with an official Terre Haute Police Department badge Tuesday.
The boy wore a shirt to the ceremony that reads, "My daddy is my hero."
Pitts was killed last Friday when he was shot while investigating a homicide.
