(WTHR) — There's a new fundraising effort to send the family of a fallen officer to Washington, D.C. for National Police Week.

The group "Indiana Going Blue" recently launched a GoFundMe campaign over the weekend for Terre Haute officer, Robert Pitts.

They're hoping to send his children, siblings and parents to the Capitol to see his name added to the memorial wall there for fallen officers in May.

Officer Pitts was investigating a homicide back in May when he was shot and killed.

The man accused of shooting Pitts also died in the shootout.

Police later arrested 18-year-old La-Krista Julian in connection to the case.

Now, "Indiana Going Blue" is hoping to raise $10,000.
