Local law enforcement agencies express support for Terre Haute police after officer's death

Law enforcement agencies across Indiana are reaching out to the Terre Haute Police Department in the hours after the shooting death of a police officer.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Law enforcement agencies across Indiana are reaching out to the Terre Haute Police Department in the hours after the shooting death of a police officer.

The Terre Haute officer was reportedly investigating a homicide at The Garden Quarter apartments when he was shot. He later died of his injuries.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts reported the news of the officer's passing shortly before 8:30 p.m., about two hours after the shooting.

Within about an hour of receiving the news, police and fire departments were expressing their condolences to the Terre Haute Police Department and the community they serve.
