ISP report says police acted in self-defense in officer-involved shooting

Officer Rob Pitts was shot and killed during the shootout.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHR) - A review of the shooting that left a Terre Haute police officer and a suspected killer dead found the use of deadly force was justified.

The Indiana State Police investigation says the officers acted in self defense when they exchanged gunfire with Christopher Wolfe.

Officer Rob Pitts was shot and killed during the shootout.

Wolfe was wanted for an earlier homicide. He died at the scene.

An autopsy shows he had a graze wound on his head but that he ultimately shot and killed himself.

Pitts was a 16 year veteran of the Terre Haute Police Department.
