HENRYVILLE, Ind. — A man was arrested in southern Indiana Sunday after authorities said he fled the scene of a hit-and-run injury accident involving a horse-and-buggy.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash between the horse-led buggy and a motor vehicle about 6:30 p.m. on U.S. Rt. 31 in Henryville. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The operators of the buggy sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. The horse was not injured.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Wade Roberts, 61, of Henryville. He was later arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail, charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury. He is awaiting a court hearing.

"Sheriff [Scottie] Maples and the entire Clark County Sheriff's Office urge all community members to exercise caution and operate their vehicles with heightened awareness, especially when encountering horse-led vehicles," the release stated. "Every individual's safety is paramount, and we must all do our part to prevent such incidents."
