WARSAW, Ind. (WTHR) - A group of students from northern Indiana are looking to say "thanks" to a stranger who bought them dinner.

According to WNDU-TV, eleven students with Bremen Middle School's "Discovery FFA" program were eating at a Warsaw Steak 'n Shake after a competition in Warsaw Wednesday night. When they went to pay, the cashier told them a man covered their $90 bill.

“It was so out of the blue and so unexpected and such a generous amount and in today’s society and the economy, no one really has just $100 to give away to random people,” said teacher Sharon Verhaeghe.

Verhaeghe says the gesture reinforces the lessons of kindness, community and paying it forward she has been teaching her FFA students.

Now, the students hope to find out the identity of the generous stranger.

"Thank you for giving and it made all of us want to give more in the world and in our communities," said Evan Cook, one of the students.
