INDIANAPOLIS — From gift-buying to decorating the house or even just cleaning your home before you host your family, the holidays can be stressful.

That's why one therapist is helping those struggling this year with a few tips on how to manage their stress.

Jody Baumstein is a licensed therapist at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. During her time as a therapist, she has managed a school-based counseling program, worked with schools to provide therapeutic services and created trauma-informed learning environments.

Her key to managing stress around the holidays is to set boundaries, and learn how to say "no."

"A lot of times we don't want to do that. We feel like we don't really have a good reason or we don't wanna upset someone, but the reality is that 'no' can be a full sentence and you don't need to justify it or explain it," Baumstein said.

She also mentioned that your emotions can come down to expectations on how you think you should feel during the holidays.

Baumstein emphasized that it is completely normal to feel overwhelmed during the holidays and that it's okay.
