Danville - Students in Hendricks County will have a chance to get free vaccinations at clinics through the end of September.

Seven clinics are being held by the Hendricks County Health Department, Hendricks County Schools and the Indiana State Department of Health starting September 15. The free immunizations for students in Grades 6-12 are required for students to attend school.

The health department says students in those grades must have "appropriate documentation" of vaccinations for tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap), meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) and two varicella vaccinations (VZV) for chickenpox. Students can also have documentation of chickenpox history or laboratory evidence of immunity.

Students can only attend the clinic within their school corporation. Officials say students must preregister for the clinics and parents must turn in consent forms to their own school prior to the clinic.

More information can be found by contacting their school nurse or by visiting the school's website.
