Free curling lessons offered every Sunday on Indianapolis canal

The free lessons are offered every Sunday through March 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the Vermont Street Plaza.

INDIANAPOLIS — Have you ever been watching the Olympics and thought to yourself, "I'd like to try curling'?"

Now you can.

The Circle City Curling Club and the Indianapolis Cultural Trail are teaming up to offer free lessons every Sunday from now until March 3 on the Downtown Canal.

This is the first time Indianapolis has had free curling lessons being offered. While those wishing to learn the mechanics of the sport are welcomed, families are also encouraged to come out to the canal to learn the sport as a family activity.

"It's really fun. Everybody is kind of bad their first time, so that's OK," said Amy Marisavljevic, of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. "But that's kind of the fun thing about it. It's really for all ages and all abilities. You don't have to have really great fitness or really great skill to try it and have fun."

People wishing to take advantage of the free lessons are reminded to dress for the weather and to make sure they're able to move freely in whatever wardrobe choices they make.

Lessons are offered from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the Vermont Street Plaza - West.
