Former HOA president accused of stealing $21,000 from organization's accounts

The investigation started last October when another HOA member started getting complaints about the group not paying their bills.

A trial has been set for a Johnson County man who is accused of stealing from his own homeowner's association.

Joseph Girgenti is accused of taking more than $21,000 while he was the president of the Innisbrooke HOA in Center Grove, near Fairview and Morgantown Roads.

According to police, Girgenti wrote more than 20 checks to himself last year, using the money for personal expenses.

The investigation started last October when another HOA member started getting complaints about the group not paying their bills.

Girgenti's trial is scheduled to start on on September 24.
