State police and the family of an 85-year-old retired farmer found shot to death in his rural western Indiana home three years ago are asking the public to come forward with information that could help solve the case.

Police say Lowell Badger was found fatally shot on Dec. 8, 2012, in his Sullivan County home about 30 miles south of Terre Haute. Badger's son, Alan, tells the (Terre Haute) Tribune-Star there are many pieces to the puzzle and one piece someone has might help find the killer.

State police Lt. Jeff Hearon says tips are still coming in. He says police need someone with knowledge of the case to step forward.

Sullivan County Councilman Duane Wampler says the unsolved homicide has caused fear in the community.
