INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Police are investigating after a 33-year-old inmate was found unresponsive in his cell at Marion County Jail.
Joshua Ellis had been in the jail since July 9. He was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday afternoon just after 3 p.m. Ellis was pronounced dead just before 3:30 p.m.
IMPD, the Marion County Forensic Services Agency and the Marion County Coroner's Office are investigating the death. The Marion County Sheriff's Office will also conduct an internal affairs investigation.
Ellis was being held on gun and marijuana charges.
