Diners at a central Indiana cafe that pays homage to "The Andy Griffith Show" reflected on the actor's life hours after his death at age 86.

"Mayberry Cafe" owners Brad and Christine Born served up complimentary slices of "Aunt Bee's apple pie" to diners Tuesday at the Danville eatery in honor of Griffith, who died Tuesday.

Griffith portrayed Sheriff Andy Taylor on CBS' "The Andy Griffith Show" from 1960-1968.

The Indianapolis Star reports the Borns opened their suburban Indianapolis cafe in 1989 and filled it with memorabilia from the iconic show over the years.

Fans Larry and Linda Wellman of Fort Wayne dined at the cafe Tuesday with six of their seven children.

Linda Wellman says the show "is wholesome, good, down home, and funny."
