INDIANAPOLIS (WHR) - An industrial site on the near northeast side of Indianapolis is finally getting cleaned up.

The city of Indianapolis just got a $345,000 grant for environmental remediation at the former Colonial Bakery site near 25th Street and College Avenue.

The company used the location from the 1950s through the 1990s for warehouse storage, truck loading and repairs.

They say the soil has been contaminated by heavy metals and petroleum compounds. Crews will now remove the top soil and asphalt.

Work is expected to be finished later this month.
