An autopsy has revealed that elite gymnastics coach Marvin Sharp died from asphyxia due to suffocation in his Marion County jail cell.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office said that 49-year-old Sharp was found unresponsive around 8:17 p.m. Sept. 19 inside his cell in the Marion County Jail, as a result of an apparent suicide.
He faced federal and local child pornography charges.
Thousands of files containing child pornography, including image files and a video, were found during the raid on Sharp's home. He was also accused of molesting a girl he was coaching for two years.
