Indianapolis - Autopsies are scheduled Tuesday for a woman and her boyfriend who were found shot to death at a west side apartment Monday.

Indianapolis Metro Police say the deaths of 35-year-old Nicole James and 36-year-old Dante Roberts are a murder-suicide. Their bodies were discovered at the Chapel Hill Apartments near 10th Street and Girls School Road.

The woman's four year-old boy, Rubin Harris, was also found shot in the head. He's in serious condition at Riley Hospital.

Police don't know how long the bodies were inside the apartment. The boy's father called police, concerned after not hearing from the child's mother for several days. Neighbors say police were at the apartment Sunday afternoon for the same reason, but never went inside.

"They knocked, pounded on the door. There was no response," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell. "We just didn't have enough information at that point to go in there."

Officer's entered Monday after hearing the boy's cries.

Neighbors say the couple had a volatile relationship. Police say at one point James had a restraining order against Roberts but were not sure if it had expired.
