INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The partial government shutdown, the brutal cold and two snowstorms earlier this month are straining the blood supply.
The American Red Cross has had to cancel several blood drives, leading them to put out an emergency call for donations.
The group say it's distributing blood to hospitals faster than it's coming in. In fact, they say they only have a three-day supply of most blood types.
