1 killed, 2 injured in east Indianapolis crash

The crash happened along East 21st Street near Shadeland Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

INDIANAPOLIS — One person was killed and two people, including a child, were injured in a two-car crash on Indianapolis' east side Friday morning.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Feb. 23 near the intersection of East 21st and North Irwin streets, just west of Shadeland Avenue.

The driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead, and the driver of the other car was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. A child was also taken to a local hospital in "stable condition with minor injuries," IMPD said.

IMPD fatal accident investigators responded to the scene. Police said traffic in the area will be impacted for several hours during the investigation and are asking drivers and pedestrians to seek an alternative route.
