1 dead in single-car crash on Indy's south side

The crash happened Saturday around 2 p.m. in the1300 block of Madison Avenue.

INDIANAPOLIS — One person has died after a single-car crash on the south side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m. Dec. 9, IMPD officers responded to a personal injury crash with entrapment in the 1300 block of Madison Avenue, near East Morris Street. The occupant was later pronounced dead. 

IMPD says preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound when it left the roadway and struck a pole/fencing. 

The IMPD fatal crash investigation team is now beginning their initial investigation. 

Traffic along the southbound lanes of Madison Avenue were affected during the investigation, but have since reopened to traffic.
