INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Elton John has announced he is postponing several concert dates including Indianapolis due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer/songwriter's "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour dates from March 26 through May 2 will be rescheduled for 2021.

John was supposed to perform his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on March 26 after he fell ill last fall and had to postpone the original October performance.

"This tough decision has been made with the safety and wellbeing of his fans put to the fore, at a time when health services are under increased pressure and with the concern that these gatherings risk accelerating the spread of Coronavirus [COVID-19]."

People who have tickets for the postponed performances will receive information "shortly" about the new date.
