Police say man arrested for inappropriately touching kids at after-school YMCA program in Greenfield

Police said the employee was immediately suspended and left the school.

GREENFIELD, Ind. — Greenfield police arrested a man they said inappropriately touched two children under the care of the YMCA after-school program. 

Police said 26-year-old Jericho Johnson works for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis and was working in that capacity on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 14, at J.B. Stephens Elementary School when a parent called police to report Johnson touched their child.

While at the school, police said a second child also claimed to be touched inappropriately by Johnson.

Johnson was immediately suspended and left the school prior to police arriving.

Police are asking parents who have children in the YMCA after-school program at J.B. Stephens Elementary since Jan. 12, or that have had contact with Mr. Johnson from any other place, to talk to their children to ensure they have not been abused.

If abuse is suspected, parents are asked to call Det. Andrew Pfaff at 317-477-4410 or call the Hancock County 911 Center at 317-477-4400 to make a report with an officer.
