TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHR) — A Terre Haute man is in custody after there was a warrant out for his arrest for child molesting in Marion County.

Carlos Thompson, 43, was charged with four counts of child molesting and three counts of criminal confinement on April 22.

Sgt. Ryan Adamson with the Terre Haute Police Department said Thompson had been located and arrested Monday afternoon.

Thompson is accused of molesting a girl under the age of 14 multiple times dating back to May 2012, when she was in third and fourth grade.

At the time, Thompson was the boyfriend of the girl's mother. His children — the girl's half-siblings — also lived in the home.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim said Thompson would "touch me, basically" when her mother went to work. She said she told her mother, who didn't believe her, a friend and her aunt.

The girl recalled the first incident happened when she was 8 years old. She said Thompson threw her on the bed and pulled her pants down.

In another incident, the girl said Thompson woke her up, took her to the bathroom, pinned her against the wall and tried to take her shirt off before she kicked him in his "bad spot" and got away.

The girl said a third incident happened when she was 9 or 10, and "he got further than he had" in the previous incidents. She said after it happened, he told her if she ever told anyone, he would kill her.

Police were able to track down Thompson after a dean at the girl's school called in the report about the molestation.

The girl's aunt has had custody of her for nearly two years now. She said she only recently found out about the allegations against Thompson, when DCS got involved in the situation.
