Man in 'very critical condition' after shooting on Indy's near west side; 22-year-old arrested

The incident happened Sunday around 7 p.m. in the 900 block of Warren Avenue, near South Harding and West Morris streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — One person is in serious condition after a shooting on the near west side of Indianapolis Sunday evening.

According to IMPD, shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 17, officers were called to the 900 block of Warren Avenue, near South Harding and West Morris Streets, n a report of a person shot. 

IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer told 13News that officers found a man who had been shot. According to Weilhammer, medics took the man to Eskenazi Hospital "in very critical condition."

Police confirmed officers detained the person believed to be responsible for the shooting.

Monday morning, police confirmed they arrested a 22-year-old man on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon and burglary.
