Noblesville police officer injured in crash during police chase

The incident began shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday on State Road 37, near Town and Country Boulevard.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — A Noblesville police officer is recovering after suffering minor injuries in a car crash during a chase late Sunday morning.

According to a release from the Noblesville Police Department, shortly after 11 a.m. March 3, an NPD officer attempted to pull over a driver with expired plates on northbound State Road 37, near Town and Country Boulevard.

The driver did not stop for the officer, leading police on a chase. Police said the officer pursued the suspect north on State Road 37, then west on Cherry Street and north onto Cumberland Road, before the driver pulled into Queens Lane, got out of the car and ran.

During the chase, the officer who had initially tried to stop the car was involved in a crash with another car at the intersection of Conner Street (State Road 32) and Cumberland Road. The officer was treated for minor injuries, while the driver of the other car was treated at the scene.

Officers from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Fishers Police Department assisted Noblesville police during a search for the suspect but were unable to locate the suspect.

NPD said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
