A body found in a burning pickup truck Friday morning in Grant County has led to the arrest of a Blackford County man for murder.

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - A body found in a burning pickup truck Friday morning in Grant County has led to the arrest of a Blackford County man for murder.

Just before 10 a.m. Friday, Grant County dispatch Center received a 911 phone about a vehicle fire in a field near County Road 1125 South on Wheeling Pike. Matthews fire crews found a body in the vehicle.

The body in the Dodge truck was burned beyond recognition. The identity of the victim is being withheld until all family has been notified.

Hartford City police matched a missing person report from Blackford County to the truck.

Grant County investigators connected Don Lamley, 49, of Blackford County to the missing person and brought him in for an interview. Lamley, according to a statement from the Grant County Sheriff's Office, implicated himself in a suspected homicide of the missing person, saying that the murder took place in Blackford County and Lamley attempted to hide the crime and destroy evidence in Grant County.

The case has been turned over to the Blackford County Sheriff’ and the Blackford County prosecutor's office and Lamley is now in custody in Blackford County.
