IMPD: Multiple people detained after chase following near northwest side shooting

Officers located a person who had been shot in the 3700 block of Clifton Street, near Dr. M.L.K Jr. and 38th streets, around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a shooting on the near northwest side of Indianapolis left one person injured Thursday.

A police pursuit after the shooting is connected with that shooting, according to IMPD.

A police department spokesperson said officers investigating an unrelated incident heard a disturbance in the area of the 3700 block of Clifton Street, near 38th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. streets, around 7:30 p.m. April 25. They found a person with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital in "stable" condition.

Another officer saw people fleeing the area of the Clifton Street shooting, and a police pursuit ensued. At least one hit-and-run crash occurred during the chase. A spokesperson said there were minor injuries in the crash.

The pursuit ended near 46th Street and Carvel Avenue, near North College Avenue. Police said multiple people had been detained after the incidents, but their roles – if any – were not immediately clear.
