17-year-old male charged with murder in Greenwood homicide; 15-year-old female arrested

Greenwood police found the body of 18-year-old Ethan J. David in a car on Liberty Way Drive, near East Worthsville and Sheek roads, Sunday night.

GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Greenwood Police Department announced arrests after the body of an 18-year-old man was found in a car in a neighborhood near Clark-Pleasant Middle School Sunday night.

Wednesday morning, police confirmed a 15-year-old female and 17-year-old male, Quincy Stringer, were arrested for the alleged roles in the homicide. Stringer was later charged with murder.

"It’s troubling to me that we have young people doing such serious crime. I don’t think they realize when they plan these dumb things that it’s going to wreck their life," Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner said. "It’s not just going to have an impact for the next couple of years or next couple of months — it’s going to be for the next few decades, if not for the better part of the rest of their lives. And that’s a really sad thing."

Police found the victim dead in a car on Liberty Way Drive, near East Worthsville and Sheek roads, on Dec. 10.

Monday morning, the Johnson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Ethan J. David, of Indianapolis.

According to court documents, witnesses told police Stringer and another person had discussed robbing their drug dealer. The witness said the plan was for the 15-year-old girl to ask what the dealer had and then Stringer would hold the dealer as they stole his drugs.

The 15-year-old allegedly told investigators she knew Stringer was planning to rob David but did not know he was going to kill him.

Stringer declined to talk to police.

According to police, during an interview with Stringer's girlfriend, she told them about a FaceTime call with Stringer and the 15-year-old girl. She said the 15-year-old stated, "(she) wishes she had pulled the trigger instead of Quincy.” She said Stringer and the 15-year-old then began joking about the way David's body was twitching after the shooting.
