FRANKFORT, Ind. — Police in Frankfort say an investigation into a "known drug house" led to a serious crash during a chase and bomb threat called into a Walmart on Tuesday.

The Frankfort Police Department said the incident began when members of the department's special operations division and patrol division were observing the house in the 400 block of West Ohio Street, near North Bunnell and West Morrison streets, and saw a car leave the home and commit a traffic infraction.

The driver fled the stop and ended up crashing into another car while attempting to go the wrong way on a one-way street. The drivers of both cars – a 33-year-old Frankfort man in the chase and 57-year-old Zionsville man in the car that was hit – were taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects in cases until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.)

The severity of their injuries has not been released, though the department said the suspect's injuries "prevented him from being jailed at this time."

Officers returned to the home on West Ohio Street and saw a "wanted female" going into the house before requesting a search warrant. While that warrant was processing, a bomb threat was called into the Frankfort Walmart in the 2400 block of East Wabash Street on the east side of the city.

The Walmart was closed for roughly two hours while bomb sniffing K-9s responded to the scene, and no evidence of a bomb was found, police said.

"We believe the bomb threat was called into Clinton County Central Dispatch in an attempt to get officers to leave the residence on West Ohio Street," the department said in a statement. "That did not happen. Multiple FPD officers came in off-duty to work both scenes and cover calls in the city."

"Our detectives will relentlessly investigate the bomb threat evidence to present a case to the Clinton County Prosecutor for charges," Frankfort Police Department Chief Scott Shoemaker said. "Our thoughts are with the uninvolved driver who was struck by [the suspect.]"
