3 injured in shooting on Indy's east side

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers are investigating a shooting that injured multiple people on the city's east side Saturday afternoon.

According to a release from IMPD, southeast district officers responded initially to a shots fired call in the 3900 block of Spann Avenue, near Sherman Drive and English Avenue, shortly after 1 p.m. April 13. When officers arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Police said both victims were transported to area hospitals and were reported to be awake and breathing. 

Later, around 3:45 p.m., IMPD issued a statement saying the department is investigating a person who walked into Community East Hospital with a gunshot wound as a possible third victim. 

No further information was released by police.
