Help feed the hungry in Central Indiana
Senator Dick Lugar, WTHR-TV and Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana are teaming up for a holiday food drive. Your donations will stock the shelves of Gleaners to feed the hungry this holiday season.
There are two ways you can participate:
1) Meet Senator Lugar and tour the food bank during a reception on Friday, December 12 at 4:30 p.m. at Gleaners, 1102 E. 16th Street, Indianapolis. Please bring $35 per family, $25 per adult or $10 per student....OR...10 canned goods per person, or 20 cans per family.
2) Donate non-perishable food items or monetary gifts to Gleaners on Monument Circle from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, December 8th through Friday, December 12th.
Needed items include:
Canned meats (tuna & chicken)
Soups
Beef stew
Single serving meals like microwavable ravioli
Canned fruits & vegetables
Peanut butter
Jelly
Pasta
Cereal
Single serving apple sauce
Mixed fruit cups
100% fruit juices
***Please no glass containers***
Gleaners Food Bank provides food to over 400 charities in Central Indiana. More than 212,000 Hoosiers need food assistance on a weekly basis. Nearly 80,000 children live in poverty in the food bank's service area.
