Crews take down Circle of Lights display

The 4,784 multi-colored lights have been put back in storage until they are needed again come November.

INDIANAPOLIS — What goes up must come down.

With the holiday season now over, volunteers with IBEW Local 481 braved the cold over the weekend to remove the Circle of Lights holiday light display.

Jeff Wheeler, the business manager of IBEW Local 481, said putting up and taking down the lights every year is a great way to be part of the event.

Crews found ways to survive the cold weather to make sure that the display came down on time.

"The Emmis Building lets us come in and warm up and use their bathroom," Wheeler said. "So, every so often you'll see guys go across the street to warm up for 10 or 15 minutes and then come back out. We're just rotating people in and out."

The 4,784 multi-colored lights are back in storage now until its time to bring them out again for the next Circle of Lights celebration.
