Good news! Gas prices trending down as summer wraps up

Experts forecast the cost of gas is trending down heading into the end of summer.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Drivers! Relief is headed your way.

Kiplinger's latest forecast on the direction of energy prices shows the cost of gas trending down. The national average is already down two cents per gallon from a month ago.

Diesel fuel is now averaging $3.15 per gallon, which is also down slightly and should continue edging lower.

Experts say the price will keep going down through the end of the summer as refineries start making cheaper, winter-blend gas.

But things could spike again if there's a storm that hits the Gulf Coast like Hurricane Harvey did last year.
