Don Pablo's parent company files for bankruptcy, closes Indianapolis, Carmel locations

Rita Restaurant Corporation — the parent company of the Mexican restaurant Don Pablo's — has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Rita Restaurant Corporation — the parent company of the Mexican restaurant Don Pablo's — has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.


According to the restaurant's website
, the four Indianapolis-area locations have closed their doors. They include the businesses located at 14758 Greyhound Plaza in Carmel; 3824 E. 82nd St. in Indianapolis; 8150 U.S 31 S. in Indianapolis; and 7600 Old Trails Road in Indianapolis.


The Lafayette Don Pablo's remains in business.
According to the Nation's Restaurant News
, Rita Restaurant Corp. cited "overall weakness in the casual-dining sector and the encroachment of fast-casual Mexican chains," as the reason for the bankruptcy filings.


The company said in a statement that it plans to "restructure its debts and liabilities and recapitalize the business."


Some of the company's restaurants will remain open.
