Amazon gets approval for expanded drone deliveries

INDIANAPOLIS — Amazon has federal approval to expand its fleet of delivery drones. 

The FAA announced Monday that Amazon's "Prime Air" unmanned package delivery can fly without the operator being able to see it.

Amazon said the deliveries would happen in areas with lower population densities and with packages weighing five pounds or less.

"Prime Air" hopes to deliver packages to customers' doorsteps in 30 minutes or less.
