100 IPL employees to be laid off as part of reorganization

About 100 IPL employees in Indiana will lose their jobs as part of a restructuring by the utility's parent company.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - About 100 IPL employees in Indiana will lose their jobs as part of a restructuring by the utility's parent company.

The AES Corporation announced the reorganization plan Monday. The layoffs, including 60 more workers in Dayton, Ohio, will take place by the second quarter of this year, which begins April 1.

“While these changes are difficult, they will allow us to improve efficiency and continue modernizing our infrastructure while maintaining affordable electricity for our customers,” said Ken Zagzebski, who ill assume the role of Executive Chairman of the Board for IPL. “This transformation will enhance our performance, and support investments in new energy solutions that will make a positive economic contribution to both Indianapolis and Dayton.”

Craig Jackson, who has served as CFO for both IPL and Dayton Power & Light for five years, will take over as president and CEO of both companies March 31.
