Pat Sullivan's tips for planting grass seeds

Pat Sullivan, of Sullivan Hardware & Garden, is sharing his best advice to get your grass looking greener and more full this summer.

INDIANAPOLIS — Spring is here in central Indiana, which means lots of new gardening to make your lawn shine — and it all starts with your grass.

Pat Sullivan, with Sullivan Hardware and Garden, joined 13Sunrise to share how you should plant your grass seeds this year for the best results.

Here is some of Sullivan's best advice for seeding:

  • Your grass needs three to four hours of sunlight to properly grow.
  • Use a garden weasel to agitate the soil.
  • Agitating the soil increases the germination rate of grass.
  • Lay down your see once the soil is agitated.
  • Keep it lightly watered a couple times per day if it is hot.
