'Biscuit' the 100-year-old tortoise back home after escape

The African tortoise named "Biscuit" got loose after a storm blew their back gate open and broke the latch.

SORRENTO, La. — A Louisiana family had a happy reunion with their 100-year-old tortoise.

The Parish of Ascension says a local animal control team rescued the family's African tortoise from a canal last week. The reptile, named "Biscuit," was in distress.

He was taken to an animal shelter and later reunited with his family. They said he escaped after a storm blew their back gate open and broke the latch.
