NBC renews 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' for 2nd season

The musical comedy starring Jane Levy will return for a second season.

LOS ANGELES — NBC has announced the season two renewal of "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist." 

The musical comedy stars Jane Levy as Zoey, a computer coder who is suddenly able to read people's minds through songs after an earthquake strikes San Francisco while she is getting an MRI. 

“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who fell in love with ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ and how much joy it brought to everyone. We’re thrilled to bring it back and can’t wait to see how Zoey’s journey continues,” Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming, NBC Entertainment, said in a statement.

"Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" also stars Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, Peter Gallagher, Mary Steenburgen and Lauren Graham.

The musical comedy debuted on NBC stations Jan. 7 and averaged a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall in “live plus seven day” Nielsens for its first season.

All episodes of “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” are now available on NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock.
