'Obliterated' stars discuss 'strong buzz' for Netflix series

Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig preview the action-dramedy series about a special forces team trying to stop a terrorist attack after celebrating too hard in Las Vegas.

INDIANAPOLIS — When you complete a task or achieve a long-term goal, the typical reaction is to celebrate your success.

In Netflix's "Obliterated," that's what a special forces team does when they stop a terrorist attack in Las Vegas — or so they think.

"They end up throwing a very enormous celebratory party, where they consume a tremendous amount of narcotics, and when those narcotics are at the pinnacle, they realize they got the fake nuke, and they have to suck it up and go out into the desert to find the real nuke while completely inebriated," said co-star Nick Zano ("Legends of Tomorrow," "What I Like About You"), who plays a Navy SEAL senior chief petty officer.

Just days after its release, the action-dramedy series was the No. 1-streamed television show on Netflix in dozens of countries — including the United States.

And although the show comes from "Cobra Kai" creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, it is certainly not family-friendly, but the R-rated thriller should satisfy the 18-34 demographic.

"The scenes are purposeful, and our characters are under such high pressure, and I can imagine when you're out there saving the world, what it must feel like to come home and have to come down from that, so we let off some steam," said Shelley Hennig ("Teen Wolf," "Days of Our Lives") who co-stars as a CIA officer and team leader.

As expected, with the show's popularity comes thoughts of future seasons.

"I suggested someplace tropical," Hennig said.

"We're also open to anybody sending us to exotic locations to scout," Zano joked.

All eight episodes of "Obliterated" are now streaming on Netflix.
