LOS ANGELES — DC Studios and filmmaker James Gunn have released the first image from the next Superman movie, set for release in 2025.
Gunn, the movie's director, shared the first photo of David Corenswet in his new Man of Steel suit.
Corenswet will takeover the role of Clark Kent/Superman in "Superman," which will be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
Corenswet is only the fourth actor to portray the son of Jor-El in feature films, following Christopher Reeve (1978-87), Brandon Routh (2006) and Henry Cavill (2013-2022). Corenswet has primarily acted on television on shows such as "The Politician" and "Hollywood."
Gunn's "Superman" relaunches DC Studios' new film universe. Gunn previously directed the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy for Marvel Studios and Disney.
"Superman" also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Other members of the cast included Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer) and Wendell Pierce (Daily Planet editor Perry White).
