Jalea Brooks is a Georgia native, who is excited to call Indiana home.
She is a Weekend Sunrise anchor and Sunrise reporter. Jalea joined the 13News team in December 2020 after working as a morning anchor at Alabama News Network in Montgomery, AL. As an award-winning reporter she covered Alabama politics, local education, severe weather and plenty of breaking news in between.
Jalea has witnessed several communities come together to rebuild after devastation. She traveled to Florida's panhandle to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Michael in 2018, and covered President Donald Trump's visit to Beauregard, Alabama after a deadly tornado in 2019. She's also had a front row seat to history, meeting prominent civil rights leaders as they passed through the Capitol City. She was recognized by the Associated Press for her feature reporting, profiling the owners of Montgomery's oldest restaurant.
Jalea is a proud graduate of Georgia State University. When she is not on-air, she loves tackling new DIY projects and searching for thrifted finds. Have a story idea? You can email Jalea directly at: firstname.lastname@example.org or connect with her on social media!
