Emmy award-winning Anne Marie Tiernon anchors the #1 rated 5 and 6 p.m. weekday newscasts on WTHR-TV, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis.

Anne Marie field anchors live breaking news, lands interviews with top newsmakers, and creates content highlighting ways viewers can prioritize and improve their health and wellness. She also traveled internationally to cover Indiana athletes pursuing their Olympic dreams at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the 2014 games in Sochi, Russia; the 2012 Summer Olympics in London; the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, Canada; and the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.

Her work has been recognized with numerous Lower Great Lake Emmy Awards; National Headliner Awards for Health/Science Reporting and the Regional Edward R. Murrow Award. Anne Marie won a National Media Award for Local Television from Mental Health America; honors for live breaking news reporting from the Associated Press and was named Journalist of the Year Award by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

Anne Marie grew up in Fort Wayne and has worked in the Indianapolis television market for 28 of her 34-year television career. Prior to WTHR, she was a 5, 6, and 11 p.m. primary anchor for WLWT-TV the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati. Tiernon also worked as an anchor and reporter at WISH-TV in Indianapolis and WMBD-TV, in Peoria, Illinois. Prior to her broadcasting career, Anne Marie worked in corporate accounting and divisional finance in Chicago and Irvine, California.

Anne Marie earned a master's degree in Broadcast Journalism at Medill at Northwestern University in Chicago. As part of her studies, she traveled to Moscow, Russia to study free press in the wake of Glasnost. Her undergraduate degree is in Finance, from Indiana University in Bloomington. Her classwork at IU included studies at the School of Economics in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Anne Marie loves all seasons and all things outside and enjoys pursuing a variety of sports and fitness activities with her husband and adult children.
