Small plane crashes in Bartholomew County; 2 occupants uninjured

The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 7000 block of West Seymour Road, roughly 10 miles northwest of Seymour.

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — Local and federal officials are investigating after a small plane crashed in Bartholomew County Tuesday evening.

In a statement, the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the scene of the single-engine plane crash around 6:30 p.m. April 30 in the 7000 block of a West Seymour Road. That's near County Road 500 West, roughly 10 miles northwest of Seymour and 15 miles southwest of Columbus.

Two occupants of the plane were not injured and able to make it out on their own.

The sheriff's office shared a photo on social media of the plane upside down in a field.

The crash is under investigation in coordination with the NTSB and FAA, the sheriff's office said.
